Meet Shaotong Li, our Marketing Specialist
Meet Shaotong Li, Monkey Baa’s Marketing Specialist.
From shaping campaigns to sharing stories, Shaotong plays a key role in bringing our productions to audiences, including you, reading this article. He shares what inspires him to work in theatre for young people, and why seeing kids’ faces light up makes it all worthwhile.
What inspires you to work in the theatre for young people sector?
Shaotong: What inspires me is the chance to make an impact early in someone’s life. Theatre can really change the way young people see the world, it sparks imagination, creativity, and a sense of possibility. Giving kids that first experience of live theatre feels far more meaningful to me than marketing just another product.
Can you share a memorable moment that has deeply impacted you?
Shaotong: I still remember seeing Matilda in China for the first time. What stayed with me wasn’t just the production itself, but the young audience. Their faces lit up with excitement and joy, and you could almost feel the inspiration washing over them. That’s the moment . That moment reminded me of the power of theatre to touch people’s lives.
How is your experience with Monkey Baa?
Shaotong: Working with Monkey Baa has been such a joy. The team is warm, supportive, and passionate about what we do. Every time I see children come out of a show buzzing with excitement, it reminds me why I love this work. It gives me a real sense of purpose to be part of something that sparks that kind of happiness.
