Professor Judith McLean appointed as our new Chair

Monkey Baa Theatre Company is excited to announce the appointment of Professor Judith McLean as its new Chair. This strategic move comes at a critical time as the company consolidates and increases its role as a national presenter of theatre for young people.

Professor McLean is an esteemed leader with an extensive background in theatre, dance and education. With her proven track record of innovation and leadership Judith brings invaluable insights and a dynamic perspective to the organisation.

"We are thrilled to welcome Professor McLean as our new Chair," said Kevin du Preez, Executive Director of Monkey Baa. "Her expertise and vision are exactly what we need as we embark on the next phase of our company’s journey."

We also extend our heartfelt thanks to outgoing Chair, Libbie Doherty, previous Head of Children and Family Content at the ABC. With six years of dedicated service, Libbie's leadership has been instrumental in shaping Monkey Baa’s direction. We are deeply grateful for her commitment and support.

"Theatre plays a crucial role in the development and enrichment of young people, and the Monkey Baa team’s dedication to this mission is truly inspiring. The next chapter under Judith’s leadership, will deepen Monkey Baa’s impact on the sector and continue to inspire young audiences across Australia."

Professor Judith McLean

Professor Judith McLean is a distinguished leader in the fields of theatre, dance and education. She has held prominent positions including QUT Chair in Arts Education and Scholar-in-Residence at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC). Judith is currently the Chair of Dancenorth and has also served on several boards including the Queensland Theatre Company and the Brisbane Festival.

Her extensive experience and innovative contributions to arts education have been recognised across Australia making her an invaluable asset to Monkey Baa. Her commitment to nurturing creative talent and fostering access to the arts for young people aligns perfectly with the mission of Monkey Baa.
