Monkey Baa x Torrens University: Learning Together
This year, we’ve been working with students from Torrens University Australia as part of their Information Systems Capstone program, an experience that has been both energising and genuinely inspiring.
We invited students to respond to a real Monkey Baa challenge: how we better understand and communicate the impact of our work with young people. Grounded in our Theory of Change and Impact Framework, the brief asked students to think about how data, technology and creativity might come together to help us tell a deeper story about what theatre makes possible.
What has unfolded has been a true exchange.
For students, it’s been an opportunity to work on a live project, applying their knowledge to something real, with real impact. For us, it’s been a chance to step outside our usual ways of thinking and see our work through a different lens.
"The students brought fresh perspectives and creative thinking that have already influenced how we approach impact measurement at Monkey Baa." Laura Pike, Social Impact Manager
Across the semester, students have developed and presented ideas for an AI-enhanced reporting system, exploring how we might turn audience feedback and program data into meaningful insights that can shape how we grow and evolve.
We’ve been incredibly impressed by the thoughtfulness, creativity and care in their responses. Already, some of their ideas are influencing how we do things, and we’re beginning to explore ways to bring these insights into our work.
We’d like to extend our thanks to the teaching staff at Torrens University for their leadership and support in shaping such a valuable learning experience.
"Partnerships like this are vital to our organisation, bringing new ideas and helping us continue to innovate and evolve.", Kevin du Preez, Executive Director
We’re excited to see where this collaboration leads next.
