Meet Kailah Cabanas - our Resident Puppetry Director

We’re thrilled to announce that Kailah Cabanas has joined Monkey Baa as our Resident Puppetry Director.

Kailah is a multi-talented artist whose work spans puppetry, performance and design. She leads the puppetry direction on Where is the Green Sheep? and The Duck and the Darklings, bringing movement, emotion and imagination to the stage.

Kailah’ll also lead workshops and creative collaborations with artists, teachers and students across NSW, sharing skills, ideas and the joy of puppetry with the next generation of makers and dreamers.

We’re so excited to welcome Kailah — and can’t wait to see where her creativity takes us!

Kailah Cabanas is a passionate storyteller and accomplished performing artist known for her dynamic work in puppetry and physical theatre. With a career spanning theatre, film, and television, Kailah has toured internationally with Cirque du Soleil’s Toruk – The First Flight, played the lead in Martha the Monster, and performed in the National Theatre’s War Horse. She was Puppetry Director and Lead Puppeteer on the feature film Blaze (Causeway Films) and worked with Weta Workshop on the horror film Sting.

Most recently, Kailah was Puppetry Director and Assistant Director for Monkey Baa Theatre Company’s newest production of Where’s the Green Sheep?, directed by Eva Di Cesare. Her background in dance and physical performance allows her to bring characters to life with emotional depth and precision.
