A Community of Artists: Meet the Where is the Green Sheep? Creatives

As Where is the Green Sheep? prepares to leap onto the stage for its world premiere at Queensland Performing Arts Centre’s Out of the Box Festival, we’re thrilled to introduce the remarkable cast and creative team bringing Mem Fox and Judy Horacek’s beloved book to life.

This production is more than a stage adaptation — it’s the result of a vibrant community of artists, designers, puppeteers and performers, all working together to create an immersive theatrical experience for young audiences and their families.

Cast

With over two decades of performance experience, Paul Grabovac is no stranger to Australian stages. A founding member of Renegade Productions, Paul has brought compelling characters to life in productions such as The Tribe, Giving Up the Ghosts, and Tale of Tales. He recently toured nationally with Edward the Emu and Mr Stink, and performed in Misery Loves Company in NSW. Known for his nuanced and honest style, Paul is celebrated as “one of our most singular actors” (David Zampatti, The West Australian).

Michael Ho is a performer, theatre maker, and puppeteer whose work spans Erth Visual & Physical Inc., Re:Group, and beyond. Whether performing in Prehistoric World and Shark Dive, or collaborating on Zest and Fledgling, Michael’s passion lies in physical storytelling that transcends language. He also shares his skills through workshops at Merrigong Theatre Company and the Sydney Opera House. His puppetry expertise and creative heart bring depth and imagination to this production.

Lucia May is a multidisciplinary performer and artist with a strong focus on creating accessible theatre for young audiences. Their past work includes Great White, Blackrock, and Mercury Fur, as well as motion capture performance in Doctor Who: The Celestial Toymaker (BBC). Lucia also performs as Captain Starlight for the Starlight Children’s Foundation, blending storytelling and play to brighten young lives. Passionate about climate justice and accessibility, Lucia is currently studying Auslan to become a live theatre interpreter.

“The creative team for Where is the Green Sheep? is an absolute dream team. It’s rare to work with a group of people who are not only incredibly talented at what they do but also genuinely collaborative.”— Kay Yasugi, Puppet Maker
