Seeing work together, and talking about it properly, is one of the fastest ways to grow as an artist.
Monkey Baa Theatre Company, together with Sydney Opera House, is offering five practising artists and arts workers in theatre for young audiences the chance to join a hosted group of peers at Wild Things, Sydney Opera House's inaugural international festival for children.
Across two days you will see up to five performances, share your responses in an informal end-of-day reflection, and meet other theatre makers working in the sector. You will also meet members of the recently formed national Children's Theatre Alliance and hear about developments across the sector nationally.
Sydney Opera House's new annual international kids festival runs from 26 September to 11 October 2026.
The program spans circus, Korean pansori, shows for babies, nine Australian premieres and inventive page-to-stage adaptations, alongside free large-scale installations and play activations that transform the Forecourt into an outdoor playground.
For artists working in this field, it is a rare chance to see this breadth of international work for children in one place, without leaving Sydney.
This event is hosted by Noel Jordan, and is based on similar events Noel coordinated as Festival Director of the Edinburgh International Children's Festival from 2015 to 2025.

Noel Jordan has more than 35 years across the performing arts, focused on theatre and dance for young people. His senior roles include Sydney Opera House, Melbourne Theatre Company, Performing Lines and the University of Melbourne.

Who can apply
The Go & See Fund is open to freelancers working in the theatre and dance for young audiences sector in Sydney, including performance makers, production staff, composers, designers and producers.
You need to be Sydney-based and living within easily commutable distance of Sydney Opera House, and able to travel to the venue independently.
We welcome applications from artists and arts workers at any career stage.
What we cover
Selected participants receive:
Tickets to all performances attended at Wild Things
A daily rate of $250 per day
Meals across the event: two lunches and one dinner, or an equivalent per diem
A daily stipend of $10 towards public transport
The transport stipend covers public transport rather than car or taxi travel, unless you have access needs. There is no cost to you to take part.
What the two days involve
You will attend up to five performances at Wild Things alongside a small group of industry peers.
At the conclusion of the second day the group gathers for an informal reflection discussion to share responses to what you have seen. There is no expectation of formal critique or written output. The value is in the conversation.
You will also meet members of the recently formed national Children's Theatre Alliance and hear about developments across the sector nationally.
