what we do

2020 season for students

We offer a variety of acclaimed productions for both primary and secondary students throughout the school year through our curated season at our home venue, ARA Darling Quarter Theatre.

Additionally, we also tour a Teaching Artist with Monkey Baa Theatre Company productions. In 2019, we ran over 400 workshops to more than 10,000 students  in every State & Territory! Our tutors’ facilitate practical Student Workshops linking to our shows that give students a greater sense of involvement in what they go on to see at the theatre.

Monkey Baa has a suite of Professional Development courses for teachers, and we travel across the country delivering quality learning for educators. We also provide teacher resources to tie in with our productions (you will find these under the information for each production).

work experience

Work experience places for 2019 are now open! Monkey Baa welcomes work experience students in years 10-12 every year. These students take part in activities such as: front and back of house duties, administrative support, attending and observing performances of shows, and creating foyer activation activities. Monkey Baa welcomes young people of all kinds of ability, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. We have an accessible venue, and students with a disability are welcome to apply for the four day experience, or we can tailor a more flexible arrangement that suits you best.

We will be running 2 work experience sessions with two positions available in each:

  • 2-5 July : during Education Season of Possum Magic
  • 14-17 October : during Education Season of Josephine Wants to Dance

monkey baa education advisory panel (MEAP)

MEAP is our direct conduit to educators, and allows us to accelerate the improvement of our work in teaching and learning. MEAP is made up of a diverse panel of passionate educators, and we love giving them the VIP treatment by inviting them to the opening nights of our Monkey Baa shows.
