Building skills together with the Girls & Boys Brigade
This month we partnered with the Girls & Boys Brigade to deliver a free professional development course for their team. The Brigade has been supporting children, young people and families in inner-city Sydney for over 140 years, and it was a privilege to share some of our theatre-making tools with their staff.
Across the day, our Social Impact & Engagement Producer Alexander Andrews and Teaching Artist Teale Howie led sessions exploring improvisation and storytelling. The focus was on playful, practical strategies that can be used in everyday youth work, sparking creativity, encouraging collaboration and building confidence.
“Big thank you and love — everyone really enjoyed the workshop and thought it was incredibly useful.” — Curly, The Girls and Boys Brigade
The workshop was filled with laughter, energy and ideas. It gave the Brigade team the chance to step into the shoes of the young people they support and to try new approaches they can bring back into their own programs.
Monkey Baa is proud to collaborate with organisations like the Girls & Boys Brigade, who do such vital work with communities. Together we can keep finding ways for theatre and creativity to inspire, connect and empower young people.
