The first tour took place in 1998 in schools in NSW. During its second tour in 1999, the company travelled to schools throughout NSW, ACT, Victoria, and Tasmania. In a long wheelbase van (well five actually, they kept breaking down) the cast lugged a brightly coloured, heavy wooden set into classrooms, libraries, and community halls and performed to over 15,000 young people. After five months on the road The Bugalugs Bum Thief was performed in its first theatre venue at Glen Street Theatre in Sydney.
The third tour of The Bugalugs Bum Thief took place in 2002. We travelled to 13 theatres in New South Wales, the ACT and to the Arts Centre, Melbourne. Dean Atkinson toured with Eva and Tim. This production was directed by John Saunders, designed by Mark Thompson, lighting design by Martin Kinnane and sound by Stahy.
The Bugalugs Bum Thief also toured throughout schools in Queensland in 2005 and 2006 as a co-production with The Queensland Arts Council. For two years the talented performers took the story on the road complete with all the production elements of set, props and multiple costume changes. A riotous success, The Bugalugs Bum Thief was seen by tens of thousands of young people all over Queensland!
