rehearsal diary diary of a wombat tech

Mothball’s Rehearsal Diaries – tech week (things are getting serious…)

March 15th, 2017

Monday 13 March (Lendlease Darling Quarter Theatre)

Morning: bumped in to our new home this morning at the Lendlease Darling Quarter Theatre. Director tells me this is THE most important week (opening night Saturday). No pressure then.

Afternoon: Some award-winning Lighting Designer called Matt Cox took over the stage. I retired to my dressing room.

Tuesday 14 March (Lendlease Darling Quarter Theatre)

Morning: MORE lighting design and now they’re practicing sound effects. This is tedious for a star of my pedigree.

Afternoon: ‘Costume parade.’ What does this even mean? Monkey Baa Creative Director gave us a ‘tour briefing.’ I’m well acquainted with life on the road, thank you very much.

Wednesday 15 March (Lendlease Darling Quarter Theatre)

Morning: Sound check and technical rehearsal, followed by notes from the Director. As usual, the humans have notes, but my performance was flawless.

Afternoon: ANOTHER technical rehearsal. I hope they provide dinner this evening …

Thursday 16 March (Lendlease Darling Quarter Theatre)

Morning: Third technical rehearsal of the week.

Afternoon: As above. I will be exhausted come opening night.

Friday 17 March (Lendlease Darling Quarter Theatre)

Morning: My first audience! We have hundreds of school children in, witnessing my debut. What lucky creatures.

Afternoon: I am told that I will be photographed AND filmed during this afternoon’s tech rehearsal. Must adjust make-up in dressing room …

Saturday 18 March (Lendlease Darling Quarter Theatre)

It’s opening night! Today I shall be a star of Instagram and I will finally be revealed. Chookas!
