Kevin du Preez (Executive Director)
In August 2021, we appointed Kevin du Preez as the new Executive Director of Monkey Baa. Kevin joined us from the Australia Council for the Arts where he was the Director of Capacity Building.
During his 11-year tenure, Kevin developed major industry development programs including the Australia Council leadership programs; national strategies, such as the digital culture program; many large sector events, and hundreds of professional development programs.
Why did you join Monkey Baa, Kevin?
“I believe that a thriving Australia starts with inspiring our young people. Monkey Baa plays such a critical role in sparking the imagination and creativity of young Australians. We need this now more than ever! I look forward to meeting more of our amazing donors and the chat about all things Monkey Baa.”
Alex Andrews (Education Manager)
Alexander began his teaching career at Cronulla High School and later became the Head of Drama at the Australian Performing Arts Grammar School.
He has been fortunate enough to work with young people in many capacities, not only as a high school teacher but also as a private tutor with Tutoring for Excellence, an excursion guide with Ranger Jamie’s Tours and a tutor/director with Gondwana Choirs.
Alexander is also a critically acclaimed director who works in the independent musical theatre scene with Little Triangle, a theatre company he co-founded to present unconventional, rarely seen musicals and create a platform for emerging performers and creatives.
Kirstin Bokor (Development Manager)
Kirstin joined us in December 2021. Kirstin has worked across the museums, literary and performance sectors.
She previously worked in organisations such as the South Coast Writers Centre, where she learned the value of a well written Strategic Plan, and the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies at the University of Sydney, where she worked for over a decade developing creative research and teaching projects through the Rex Cramphorn Studio residency program.
Kirstin is also an avid reader of young adult literature so if anyone feels like talking about literature for young people she’s always happy to have a chat about that as well as the work we do.
Why did you join Monkey Baa, Kirstin?
“I had the pleasure of programming Monkey Baa into the Rex Cramphorn residency program for many years and they always stood out – they were brave and joyful, and when I’d ask them to try something that might be a bit crazy, they said “yes” every time! I loved them for their joy, playfulness, and utmost professionalism. I saw this job and I knew that I didn’t want to miss out on the chance to work with the best. They were the first company I ever came across who made Relaxed Performances a standard, and that’s just one of the ways they ensure that circumstance should never stand in the way of any child accessing quality theatre”.
