AUDITION CALL OUT: ‘Pete the Sheep’ 2021

Monkey Baa is holding auditions for the 2021 remounted National tour
of Pete the Sheep

Composition & Lyrics by Phil Scott

An original musical comedy based on Jackie French and Bruce Whatley’s quirky and quintessentially Australian picture book… hilarious and imaginatively told by four performers playing shearers, dogs and sheep it explores the challenges and rewards of being an individual and will be a lasting tribute to honoring your own spirit and strength, whilst working with the flock!

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

We wish to celebrate an entirely inclusive and accurate representation of Australia within the cast of this production and are actively seeking performers from a diverse background.

  • 4 performers highly skilled in singing and acting (see role details below)
  • Performers must be Sydney based (with a permanent Sydney residence)
  • Performers must hold a full driver’s license
  • Performers must be over the age of 21 years
  • Extended commitment required March – November

ROLES

Performer 1 – Shaun (also plays Fang and Sheep)
Tenor/High baritone (needs a high G or A)
Aged 21-35

Performer 2 – Ratso (also plays Tiny and Sheep)
Baritone (should have an F on top and a G at the bottom)
Aged 40 +

Performer 3 – Big Bob (also plays Brute)
Bass or Bass Baritone (Needs a strong low F)
Aged 21-35

Performer 4 – Pete (also plays Bungo)
Baritone (should have an F on top and a G at the bottom)
Aged 21-35

HOW AUDITIONS WILL WORK TO BE COVID SAFE

Self-Tapes   Actors will be notified if we require a Self-Tape and a brief will be provided. All performers submitting a Self-Tape must be able to attend callbacks in Sydney.

Callbacks   Successful actors will receive notice by email no later than COB 20 October, 2020. In-person callbacks will be held at the ARA Darling Quarter Theatre in Darling Harbour on Saturday 24th October and will follow the  LPA COVID-Safe Guidelines.
